Cookies are divided into two macro-categories: "technical" cookies and "profiling" cookies.

Technical cookies

They are not used for other purposes and are normally installed directly by the owner or manager of the website. They can be divided into navigation or session cookies, which guarantee normal navigation and use of the website (allowing, for example, to make a purchase or authenticate to access restricted areas).

"Analytics cookies" are assimilated to technical cookies, when used directly by the website manager, to collect information in aggregate form, on the number of users and on how they visit the website. Functionality cookies allow the user to navigate according to a series of selected criteria (for example, the language, the products selected for purchase) in order to improve the service rendered to the same.

Another type of cookie is the so-called "Flash Cookie" (Local Shared Objects), used within Adobe Flash Player to deliver certain contents, such as video clips or animations, in order to remember settings and preferences. Flash cookies are stored on the device, but are managed through a different interface than the one provided by the browser used.

The Adobe website provides information on how to remove or disable Flash cookies related to a specific domain.

Due to the particular invasiveness that such devices may have in the private sphere of users, European and Italian regulations require the user to be adequately informed about their use and thus express their valid consent.

The art refers to them. 122 of the Code where it provides that "the filing of information in the terminal equipment of a contractor or user or access to information already archived are permitted only on condition that the contractor or user has given their consent after being been informed with the simplified procedures referred to in article 13, paragraph 3” (art. 122, paragraph 1, of the Code).
